GEL MANICURES_SOME GREAT THINGS ABOUT GEL MANICURES
The great thing about gel manicures is that the same manicure can be painted several colors in succession, because the gel will not be damaged by regular nail polish remover.
So if you are one of those women who believe that your fingernails should match your outfit,
than this type of manicure is ideal for you. At Gel Nails & Spa on 620, we have recently expanded
would love to help you get your fingernail brighten up.
If you've never heard of a gel manicure before, I will explain.
First it should be noted that what I am about to describe is the traditional
gel manicure and not Shellac or some other such system.
This is the most common type of manicure that you will receive
when you walk in to your local salon and ask for “gel.”
The nail tech will gently hand-file (that is, without the use of an electric file) rough the nails up
just a bit so that the gel will adhere better. No more than 3-5 strokes of the emery board should be necessary.
Next, the tech will take out a clean brush and a pot of gel and “paint on,” if you will, the nail.
In this way, you can get a manicure that is tailored specifically to your natural nail
and have it shaped to your liking. There should be about two coats of gel to each nail.
Each coat should be applied in a fine layer, so as not to be too thick and then your nails
will be placed underneath the UV light to complete the adhesion process.
Finally, if you desire a color, it will be painted on and must dry like regular polish on your natural nails.
COMPLETES ADHESION PROCESS
Now I would like to add a few notes about gel nails.
If you choose french manicure over clear, your nails will be more likely to chip.
Also, when removing gel nails, it is usually only necessary to file the nail just enough to break the seal.
Then, cotton balls dipped in acetone should be wrapped with foil to each individual nail
and left to sit for a 10 minutes. The nail should remove easily, with the rare “tough spot”
being removed with a cuticle pusher
